This HOn30 micro layout is based on A2 (420mmx594mm) panel.
B-train shorty (N gauge shorty collectible from Bandai, and Kato supplies the motorizing
parts) has introduced 100mm radius tracks. I used three oval track set (4 90-degree curved tracks and 2 straight
tracks in each set) and combined to make a single loop admitting steep
slope. The scenery idea came out from roller coaster amusement like Big
Thunder Mountain in Disneyland. Sunset (three sets) Mountain is a wild
railroad runs through the abandoned mine.
HO timber trestle set (TYCO) was located on a flat panel, and
stringers were bridged over it. Tracks were laid over stringers. Since
tracks are not glued, they can be dismantled easily for maintenance. To
make height adjustment easier, landscape was made after locating trestles.
Terrain was made on styrene foam blocks and sheets covered with plaster
cloth. Main structures I used are Tyco (Pola) freight station and Model
Power (Pola) Blue Coal Depot. Article on this layout is featured in TMS
(Tetsudo Mokei Shumi) No. 751 (April, 2006).
